Fashion

The beginning of the 90's still had many styles from the eighties such as acid wash jeans, spandex tights, and tie dye. Tube skirts which were introduced in the 80's continued to stay popular throughout the 90's. They were usually made out of leather or lycra and paired with a long blazar.

Sports clothing was also very popular among teens. Baseball and Basketball Jerseys became popular. Sporty sneakers such as high tops and Nike Air Jordans were also making a large appearance. The sporty look was commonly associated with hip hop music.

Hippie inspired clothing was also very popular including Bell-Bottom jeans and crochet vests.

Grunge style was also a big trend. Shirts including flannels were bought from thrift shirts. The look was unkept. The shirts often had holes and were somewhat dirty.

Music

Music I liked in the 90's includes Spice Girls, Hanson Brothers, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Nsync, Ricky Martin, TLC, Will Smith, 98 Degrees, and Destiny's Child.

I loved the Hanson Brothers. My favorite song was their 1997 hit, MMMBop. MMMBop was on their debut album, Middle of Nowhere. Eventually the band started having trouble with their record labels. They switched from Mercury Records to Def Jam and then they made their own called 3CG Records.

I also loved TLC. TLC had three members including T-Boz, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Chilli. They were ranked as one of the best trios. They had many hits including "Creep", "Waterfalls", "No Scrubs", and "Unpretty".

Fads

Some fads of the 90's are bowl cuts, beanies, push pops, tamagotchi(giga pets), water babies, teletubbies, easy bake oven, skip-it, beanie babies, furbies, polly pockets, and slap bracelets.

Out of this list I had a tamagotchi, water babies, way too many beanie babies, regular sized and a couple baby furbies, and many polly pockets.

Between my sisters and I we probably had about 300 beanie babies. For some reason collecting them became a huge craze, and i can't think of why I would buy even one. Beanis babies were first introduced in 1993. They were made by Ty Inc.

Furbies were launched in 1998 and quickly became a must have toy. Furbies spoke Furbish, but as time went on they began to speak english. In 2005 a new Furby was released. It was more complex including more facial movements. There were many different types of Furbies. I had the original and the Furby baby. Other Furbies include the Furby friend, Emoto- Tronic Furby, Emoto- Tronic Furby baby, and Funky Furby.
